WHAT IS THE DV-2009-PROGRAM? WHY DOES THIS LOTTERY EXSIST?

Based on the current immigration law (Immigration Act of 1990) the U.S.A. started to make available a certain number of unrestricted US work and residence permits, the so-called Green Cards. They are unlimited and valid for a lifetime. By defining a minimal educational level, the US is able to limit immigration to only reasonably educated individuals. In addition, certain countries with an exceptionally high rate of immigrants in the US are excluded from the program to maintain the multicultural balance in US society. Also excluded are countries whose immigration rates into the US over the past five years has surpassed 50,000 (see conditions for participation).

HOW ARE PARTICIPANTS SELECTED?
All entries received from each region will be assigned an individual number. After the end of the registration period, a computer will randomly select entries from among all the entries received for each geographic region. All entries received during the registration period will have an equal chance of being selected within each region.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE LOTTERY?
There are two basic requirements to participate in the Green Card Lottery Program. Please click here to check if you qualify for the program.

CAN A PERSON REGISTERED FOR AN IMMIGRANT VISA IN ANOTHER CATEGORY APPLY FOR THE DV PROGRAM?
Absolutely, YES. All such persons may apply for with the DV Program.

MAY PERSONS WHO ARE IN THE U.S. APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM?
YES, an applicant may be in the U.S. or in another country, and the entry may be submitted from the United States or from abroad.

WHAT FAMILY MEMBERS MUST I INCLUDE ON MY DV ENTRY?
On your entry you must list your spouse, that is husband or wife, and all unmarried children under 21 years of age, with the exception of children who are already U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residents.

IS THE PHOTOGRAPH REQUIRED FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER?
Yes. You have to include a photograph of yourself, your spouse (wife or husband) and each child listed on your application.

ARE THERE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PICTURES?

DOES MY SPOUSE ALSO HAVE TO SEND A SEPARATE APPLICATION UNDER HER NAME?
Although this is not strictly necessary, it does improve your chances. If one of you wins, you will both receive a green card. Registering both therefore doubles your chance to win.

HOW CAN I BE SURE THAT ALL THE INFORMATION REQUIRED WAS SUBMITTED?
The online system will not allow a user to complete his entry and secure his participation without filling out all of the required details.

WHAT IS MY FORM IS INCOMPLETE?
In case some information is missing, Green Card for Life will make sure that it is completed correctly and taken care of on time so you don not miss your chance to enter the lottery. Unlike the US Immigration service, we make sure all the information is there so you will not miss your chance to partake in the lottery.

IF I WIN, WILL MY FAMILY HAVE TO EMIGRATE WITH ME?
No. The fact that you included the names of family members on the application does not obligate them to emigrate with you. They can choose whether or not to join you.

DOES IT COST MONEY?
Participation in the lottery is free of charge. However, a fee is charged for our services to correct and timely submit your the application.
