Pictures Guidelines
1. Each photo must be a color passport-type photo, with only the head and shoulders
2. Head, shoulders and eyes must be facing straight into the camera with both sides of the face and ears equally visible.
3. The picture must not include other objects or additional people
4. The head should take up approximately half of the space in the photo.
5. Do NOT smile. make sure your eyes are opened. NO shadows are allowed to show on any part of the face.
6. The entire face must be in focus
7. The background must be a plain LIGHT color such as white (NOT red, NOT blue, NOT any bright color).
8. Hats or head covers are not allowed unless they are required for religious reasons. Even then, no part of the face can be covered.
9. Eyeglasses are acceptable in the photo only if the lenses are NOT tinted and there is no glare, no reflections of lighton the lenses or frames, no shadows, and the rims/frames do not obscure the eyes. Glare on eyeglasses can usually by avoided by a slight upward or downward tilt of the head.
10. Sunglasses are NOT allowed.

All DV-2010 Program (Green Card Lottery) applicants are required to provide recent photograph of themselves and all co-applicants (spouse and children). You will need a computer file containing your digital photo (image) which will be submitted online with your entry form.

Photographs that do not comply with all specifications, including but not limited to recency of the photos, composition of the photos, and unacceptable backgrounds are grounds for disqualification of the entire entry. Any manipulation of photographs that alters the facial characteristics is grounds for disqualification of the entire entry.

Fortunately enough, Green Card for Life will let you know if something is not right with your picture. Our Customer Care Department will constanlty send you notificatios, or you can always contact us as well

Need Help?

We realize that it may be difficult for most people to provide digital photos, or have them adjusted to the appropriate specifications. It may be quite difficult for to do so correctly. In order to address this problem and make it easier for every applicant, Green Card for Life organization accepts photos in all formats (digital or paper) and through all forms of delivery (mail, e-mail and digital upload). Once we receive your photos, we will digitalize and adjust them. Then they will be uploaded to your application. If there is a problem with your photo, we will contact you by e-mail (the one that you provide us with during registration) and ask you for a replacement photo.
